If you've tried to book an Instant Edit appointment with us in the last few weeks, you'll already know they're going fast. Since our sale launched, we've watched this side of the townhouse fill up quicker than almost anything else we offer, and it's changed how we're thinking about what brides actually want from their dress shopping experience.
So we wanted to take a step back and properly explain what Instant Edit is, how it works, and why it's become such a popular route into wedding dress shopping for brides across Glasgow and beyond.
What Is Instant Edit?
Instant Edit is our off-the-peg collection at Sarah Louise Bridal. Every dress in the collection is available to try on, buy, and take home on the same day, with prices ranging from £499 to £999.
That's a meaningful difference from how most bridal shopping works. Traditionally, when you find your dress, you place an order, and then you wait. Depending on the designer, that wait can be anywhere from four to nine months, sometimes longer if you're adding customisations. It's a normal part of the process, and for a lot of brides, that timeline works fine. But for others, whether because their wedding is coming up sooner than that, or because they'd simply rather not spend half a year wondering whether the dress will look exactly as they remember it, waiting isn't ideal.
Instant Edit removes that wait entirely. You come in, you try dresses on, you find the one, and you leave with it.

The reason we can offer these dresses at £499 to £999, rather than the typical price range you'd expect for a made-to-order gown, comes down to how the collection is put together.
Every dress in Instant Edit is a single piece, in a single size. These are sample gowns, end-of-line pieces, and dresses from past seasons that we're not reordering. Because there's no fabric to order in, no production run to schedule, and no shipping from overseas, a lot of the cost that usually goes into a made-to-order dress simply isn't there. We're able to pass that saving directly on to the bride who buys it.
Plus, once that particular style is sold, it's sold. For a lot of brides, that uniqueness is part of the appeal in its own right, quite apart from the price.
What Actually Happens in an Instant Edit Appointment
We get asked this a lot, so it's worth being specific: an Instant Edit appointment is not a lesser version of a regular bridal appointment.
You'll still be looked after by one of our stylists for the full appointment. You'll still have your own fitting room, your own rail of dresses picked with your shape, style and budget in mind, and as much time as you need to try things on, ask questions, and bring your favourite people along for the ride. The only real difference is what happens at the end.
With a made-to-order appointment, you leave with an order placed and a rough delivery window in your diary. With Instant Edit, you walk out of the townhouse that day with the dress itself, ready to take home.
If the dress does need any adjustment, like a hem or a strap added, a reputable bridal seamstress will talk you through how that works and what it will cost.
Who Instant Edit Tends to Suit
A few different types of brides tend to gravitate towards Instant Edit, and it's not always about budget alone.
Some brides are working with a wedding date that's coming up faster than a made-to-order timeline would allow, and they'd rather have certainty now than risk a delivery date that's cutting it close.
Some have a very clear idea of the areas of their wedding they want to spend the most on, and the dress isn't necessarily top of that list. Will there be a good selection of sizes and styles?
Our Instant Edit rail is always changing, since every dress that sells isn't replaced with the same style. That said, we keep a broad spread of silhouettes and sizes coming through, from fitted and fishtail styles to fuller a-line skirts. If there's something specific you're hoping to find, it's worth calling ahead so we can let you know what's currently in.
Can dresses be altered?
Yes, just like a made to order bridal gown, all of our Instant Edit styles can be altered with a reputable bridal seamstress.
Is Instant Edit only for brides on a tight budget?
Not at all. Plenty of brides choose Instant Edit because they'd rather spend elsewhere, or because they simply don't want the wait. It's as much about timing and priorities as it is about budget.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Instant Edit appointments follow the same booking system as our other bridal appointments, and given how quickly they've been filling up recently, we'd recommend booking as early as you can.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Nothing specific is required, though many brides find it helpful to bring a strapless bra. If you have any inspiration images, feel free to bring those too, though we'd always encourage you to stay open to what you find on the day.
